Let's Revel in Roses!

The old-fashioned climbing rose has been beautifying its boring corner of the yard, despite last week's downpours.

It may only really bloom once a year, but when it does?   It's absolutely wonderful!  (Assuming, of course, that you like old-fashioned, pink roses with rose scent.)

This rose has given a lot in exchange for very little.  Poor, sandy soil on a hot, west-facing brick wall.  In recent years, I've hardly ever gotten around to fertilizing (I'm ashamed to admit)-- and even under those harsh conditions, it looks like that.  I wish I knew the identity of this rose.   I'd be singing its praises.

Joseph's Coat got off to a rocky start, bloom-wise.   Just when it was starting to open its first buds, we got all that soaking rain, day after day.  Far from ideal conditions.  But now that the weather has dried up again, we're enjoying more gorgeous flowers.

I love those red blooms next to the peachy-coral-pink.  If only this rose likes its location... Imagine a whole arbor of these beauties!
